Krista L. (Pazdernik) Labbe - Legacy

Krista L. (Pazdernik) Labbe

Krista passed away unexpectedly on 23 October 2023. Krista was married to Jamahl E. Labbe, the President for Project Overwatch. They married in Ashville, North Carolina and had spent over 12 years together. Faced with many challenging Army assignments including deployments, they built a loving and supportive family.

After earning a nursing degree from Viterbo University, Krista joined the US Army Nurse Corps. Serving for twenty years, including a deployment to Afghanistan, she earned the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Early in her career, she was assigned to Labor and Delivery and fell in love with the field. She pursued her passion and attended the University of Utah’s Midwifery Doctorate of Nursing Specialty Program. Upon graduation, she served as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, aka a Midwife.

Krista was the Project Coordinator for our family’s non-profit organization, Project Overwatch. Krista’s leaves behind three children, Paul, Harper, and Adison who all meant the world to her. She loved nothing more than spending time together and creating memories. Krista’s legacy will live on through Project Overwatch and the LIFE retreats that she was a part of organizing. She will be missed greatly.

Jennifer Peterson Turner Lewis - Legacy

Jennifer Peterson Turner Lewis & Steven Casey Lewis

Jennifer Peterson Turner Lewis
Jennifer pursued her education as an Advanced EMT, all while raising her three children. She went to work at the University of Utah’s Gastrointestinal Department. She also worked at Salt Lake Community College as an EMT instructor. Jen then made the decision to put herself through the Utah Peace Officers Standards and Training program. After she graduated from POST, she was hired by the Davis County Sheriff’s Office. She worked in the corrections department, which involved more training. She later took a position in the ankle monitoring program and was elected to the Employee Association Board. She loved to hike, camp, paddle board, doing puzzles playing games and white-water rafting. She met the love of her life Steven Lewis while working at the Sheriff’s office and they were married June 30, 2023, just 3 days before an accident would take both Jennifer and Steven’s lives. Together they lived life to the fullest. Laughed long and hard and loved unconditionally.

Jennifer leaves behind her three children June, Ashlyn, and Bryce. Jen was a participant in our 2023 LIFE retreats where she connected in many ways with other women who work in law enforcement and fire department careers. She made an impact on so many who had the chance to know her and she will be deeply missed. We honor Jen’s service for serving our community and for the everlasting friendships that were made.

Steven Casey Lewis
Steven served in the United States Army, during the Gulf War, for a period of 6 years. In 2018 he became a deputy with the Davis County Sheriff’s office. In preparation for that job, Steve suffered a major heart attack, but was brought back to us for an additional 5 years. With his service at the Sheriff’s office, he received honors from the Utah Gang Investigators Association, headed the Recruitment/Mentor program, and lead the Davis County Honor Guard.

On Monday July 3, 2023 he and his new bride Jennifer Peterson Turner, were killed in a motorcycle accident. We honor Steven’s service to our country and our community.
